BTW!!

when I wrote that (not to long ago). I just to say I'm in bed, extremely ill. I haven't felt this bad since I can remember. Anyway I won't be negative haha, but thought I would tell you

imaginative story

I have never really came up with an entire story about a "magical" world. But I have thought about a lot of different little things that would make my life a whole lot easier. I always wanted to have some kind if hearing, where I could listen in on any conversation. Then I would always know what was going on and not have to ask people about everything. Having the power of invisibility would be awesome. I could go anywhere I wanted, sneak out of the house, or dorm, or get into anywhere, anytime. If I could duplicate myself, then I would be able to stay home, and have the other me go to school, etc. I could be in two places at once. Something I thought about recently was not really "magical" but would make my life much better. If I had an unlimited credit card (which I think everyone could use). I would buy six private jets (one for each continent), a mansion on Long Island and in Los Angeles. A black Mercedes, a white Range Rover, and a Versace lamborghini for my mom. Then of course every pair of jeans from Seven, True Religion, Paige, People's Liberation, and Aristocrat. Accessories and bags from Coach, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Prada, Versace, and D&G. Fine jewelry from David Yurman and Tiffany. This is just to name a few. But I would be on the highest level out of everyone! Because I'd have all the money in the world.

poem

What will happen when the world is over?
Does it burst into flames
like a wildfire in the summer? A
Or become distorted--
And everyone gets dumber? A
Will it flood with water? B
Or people turn to cannibals--
And become extinct from slaughter? B

Maybe it will be sudden
like a silent killer. A

Or is it a thriller? A

Parallel Characters: "A Raisin in the Sun" and "Things Fall Apart"

From "Things Fall Apart" the character Marlow can be related to Lena Walter's from "A Raisin in the Sun". Marlow undergoes a life-changing journey and runs into many unexpected surprises. The journey leads Marlow to a point where he has to make a decision that would not only affect himself, but others around him. In "A Raisin in the Sun", the journey Lena goes on is her life (metaphorically). When she reaches her destination of getting an insurance check in the mail, this symbolically is where Marlow has to make a desicion. Her decision has many possible affects. She could use the money for herself and leave the family behind, or spend it on them. After Walter expresses himself about her buying a house, he was furious, so she gave him the rest of the money. But ironically, Walter decided to buy the house anyway. Inside she knew he wanted his own place to live, where he could raise a family. Both Marlow and Lena had to deal with a huge responsibility, and the decisions they made had an effect. This is what they had in common. But they really are different characters and have opposites characteristics.

Apartment Setting in "A Raisin in the Sun"

The setting of "A Raisin in the Sun" the apartment represents a significant theme in the movie. Even though it is a very small space, it's shared by a family of five. It's place of togetherness, what keeps the tied together. This is where Walter can share his feelings with his wife, he is able to speak his mind, but still feels like his ideas and feelings are ignored. Socially and economically, this shows that they are a lower-class family. Walter's son has to sleep on the couch. In the kitchen the have only one window, giving the space a dark, depressing look. They could not afford to live anywhere else, because Walter did not end up where he wanted to be. Walter's mother uses her money to buy a house for Travis to live in when he gets older. She doesn't want Travis in the same position Walter is in. She wants Travis to be more successful and raise a family in a real house. The apartment seems like a safer place when Walter is there. But when he leaves he goes out to drink. The outside world is not an encouraging place for him. He envies the white men, and gets drunk all the time.

Theme from "A Raisin in the Sun"

One of the main themes we have seen in the beginning of the movie is the role of women in society. It has come up more than once, so it is significant. The role of women in "A Raisin in the Sun" is a very important theme of the movie. Walter's sister, Bennie, wants to finish medical school and become a doctor. This a controversial move for her to make. During this time, women were still expected to be the ones cleaning the house and taking care of the children. This is what Walter told Benny. He didn't agree with her wanting to go out and become a doctor at all. Bennie having a strong ego, doesn't heed what he says and continues to follow her dreams and not take money from her mother to pay for her tuition. This movie is from 1961, the year Eleanor Roosevelt was voted as chairwomen. For years now women have been forming many movements to gain equality and rights in the U.S., and they still were. Bennie was determined to prove her family wrong and show she was just as capable as any male. The way she handled the visit of Mr. Asagai shows she is nothing like a normal woman. He even says that most of the women he had met were nothing like she was. I think the role of women will be an important theme through the whole movie. During this time in history, Women's Rights Movements were taking place, so this is relevant to the time, and makes the movie very interesting.
