Parallel Characters: "A Raisin in the Sun" and "Things Fall Apart"

From "Things Fall Apart" the character Marlow can be related to Lena Walter's from "A Raisin in the Sun". Marlow undergoes a life-changing journey and runs into many unexpected surprises. The journey leads Marlow to a point where he has to make a decision that would not only affect himself, but others around him. In "A Raisin in the Sun", the journey Lena goes on is her life (metaphorically). When she reaches her destination of getting an insurance check in the mail, this symbolically is where Marlow has to make a desicion. Her decision has many possible affects. She could use the money for herself and leave the family behind, or spend it on them. After Walter expresses himself about her buying a house, he was furious, so she gave him the rest of the money. But ironically, Walter decided to buy the house anyway. Inside she knew he wanted his own place to live, where he could raise a family. Both Marlow and Lena had to deal with a huge responsibility, and the decisions they made had an effect. This is what they had in common. But they really are different characters and have opposites characteristics.
